Good evening everyone. I just got back from a cool weekend downtown and I thought I would just take a little time to catch up with everybody. This week I finished my first semester as a T.I. which was really great. I have had so many great times and met some really wonderful people in the last few months. Of course my students were just a great group of people and I miss them already. I think that I was pretty easy on them as far as their grades went, but they really improved their writing skills, which is the purpose of the course, so I feel that they got the grades they earned. Several of my coworkers had a harder time than I did (one hears stories of plagiarism and students with nervous breakdowns), so I am thankful for that. However, it's like getting a lucky drive on your first time golfing; your hooked. Anyway, a nice bunch. I sort of regret having to give them up just when we were starting to really groove. Oh well.
So that's about all I have done lately. I haven't done any christmas shopping yet. I haven't done any creative writing (I did sign up for National Write a Novel Month but I only wrote 268 words instead of the required 50,000) Oh I take that back, I wrote this poem that I really like called A Stray Dog at Ephesus it goes a little something like this:
Stray Dog at Ephesus
Maybe he’s looking for the water or
waiting for some guy in a toga
to come out of the library and walk
him home and give him treats stamped
with Constantine’s image. Or maybe he
thought that this would be a good place
for a bone.
Maybe he went there to stand on a Roman
road and stare at sandy buildings and
deep blue sky. Like I came here to
wander around in your dark eyes
and lose myself in the sandy columns
of your arms.
Well, I guess I'll leave it at that for now. Have a good week.
